SYWELL & OVERSTONE EVENING W.I

President : Pauline Bailey

There are two Women’s Institutes held in the villages of Sywell & Overstone.

The Evening W.I. meetings are held from May until October inclusive on 2nd Tuesday in the month at OVERSTONE Village Hall from November until April inclusive 2nd Tuesday in the month at SYWELL Village Hall commencing at 8.00pm.

Our 40th anniversary was celebrated 4 years ago and we have over 35 Members at present.   Membership is drawn from surrounding communities as well as Sywell & Overstone.     Primarily the Women’s Institute was founded as a means of

communication and social activity for women living in rural areas.   This is changing with more groups being formed in urban areas and places of work, young women of today usually work and juggle home, children and work needing somewhere they can relax and share interests and outings.

The W.I. nationally is the largest female lobbying group and is often consulted by the government and other organisations when new legislation is being drafted or companies require female input into future strategies and/or products to be launched.

If you want to meet new friends or have recently moved into the area our W.I. is the organisation to join!

A committee of 8 Ladies meet monthly to ensure your yearly programme and meetings go with a swing and have a lot of fun doing so.

Membership is open to everyone. For more information please contact the Pauline Bailey 01604 643805
